Mercedes-Benz EV Home Charging

Mercedes-Benz EV Charging

Have you purchased, or been thinking about purchasing, an EV or hybrid model Mercedes-Benz? While this is a smart move and a great way to save money on fuel costs, you’ll need a primary source for charging your vehicle. A level 2 home charger for Mercedes-Benz EVs and hybrids is the best way to ensure you always have a way to power up your battery directly from your home. If you’re like other Clayton drivers, learning about Mercedes-Benz EV home charging can be intimidating. However, the process is fairly straightforward, assuming you keep a few key points in mind. This article will dive into Mercedes-Benz EV home charging by showcasing the ChargePoint Home EV Flex charger.

Level 2 Home Charger for Your Mercedes-Benz

The ChargePoint Home Flex is an at-home charging solution for EV and hybrid owners. For Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles, a specific model of this charger exists to bring new life to Ladue EV owners’ batteries. This is extremely convenient, as it eliminates the need to constantly find public charging and worry about your vehicle being located somewhere unattended for hours. So, what are the specs surrounding these chargers? Let’s take a closer look for Frontenac EV owners.

ChargePoint Home Flex EV Charger: Specs & Features

When you need Mercedes-Benz EV home charging, the ChargePoint Home Flex EV charger is up nine times faster than the average EV home charger. You’ll only obtian a few miles of range per hour from a standard home plug. That’s not nearly enough to even give you errand-running battery life. With ChargePoint, you’ll add up to 30 miles of range per hour. This 240-volt Level 2 home charger easily distributes 50 amps of power. You can set the amperage to mirror your electrical panel capacity and vehicle to obtain the fastest possible charge. With this at-home charger, you have access to the following features:

  • Scheduled charging when energy is at its lowest cost
  • Set reminders to plug in your vehicle
  • Use the Mercedes-Benz and ChargePoint EV applications to stay connected
  • Sync with your smart home, Alexa, and Google.

How easy is the installation of the ChargePoint Home Flex?

Installing Mercedes-Benz EV Home Charging Unit

You have several options for installing this at-home charger. It can be plugged into an outlet to receive power, or you can hardwire the unit directly into your electrical system. Plugging it into the wall requires a NEMA 14-50 outlet or NEMA 6-50 outlet, which most likely requires a new install of these outlet types. If you hardwire the system, we strongly suggest using the services of a professional electrician unless you have a fair amount of experience in completing this type of installation. These units are designed to handle a max load of 40A, which gives you a range of 30 miles per hour. However, you can wire them for larger loads only if you choose the hardwire installation method. Completing an installation suitable for larger loads would give you a range of about 37 miles per hour.
