What Does Mercedes-EQ Stand For?

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan in Front of Building

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest automotive news, you might have stumbled across the term “Mercedes-EQ.” What does EQ mean for Mercedes-Benz drivers? In short, it’s an ambitious effort by Mercedes-Benz to work towards a carbon-neutral future with a new lineup of fully-electric vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz describes the Mercedes-EQ meaning as being grounded in the company’s two core values—emotion and intelligence—by offering a brand-new “comprehensive electro mobile ecosystem of products, services, technologies, and innovations.” While the centerpiece of Mercedes-EQ is a new generation of EVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQE, the ecosystem will also include new exclusive wall charging technology, simplified charging rates for EV drivers in Clayton, and much more! The team at Mercedes-Benz of St. Louis has more details on what to expect in the near future from Mercedes-EQ in the guide below. Read on, and be sure to keep an eye on our inventory so you’ll know as soon as the new electric models arrive!

The Mercedes-Benz Electric Future

Electric vehicles are more popular, affordable, and available than ever in Ladue and beyond, and Mercedes-Benz is one of many automakers who believe that electric cars are truly the future! The Mercedes-EQ meaning is to create the most intelligent electric ecosystem for drivers to enjoy. Here are more details on the three core tenets of the Mercedes-EQ ecosystem:

New Electric Lineup

While Mercedes-Benz offers EVs like the fully-electric EQC SUV in Europe, right now, the only fully-electric vehicle you can buy in the U.S. is the Mercedes-Benz EQS. The EQS is an electrified version of the luxurious S-Class sedan, boasting powerful performance specs and unmatched style inside and out. The EQS will soon be added by the EQE, a smaller and more affordable variant based on the E-Class sedan.

Mercedes me Charge

Mercedes me Charge is a new type of smart “green charging” offered for Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan, and beyond. All you have to do is plug your car into a compatible public charging station, and you’re good to go! You don’t have to go through an authentication process, and you’ll be billed cashlessly through the Mercedes me App or the MBUX system on your Mercedes-Benz. There are currently around 60,000 compatible charging stations in the U.S., with more on the way!

Mercedes-Benz Wallbox

While this technology is currently only available for Mercedes-Benz EVs in Europe, it’s likely that it will find its way to the United States in the near future. The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox is an innovative home charging solution for electric cars, with a charging capacity of up to 22 kW, temperature management to prevent overheating, and compatibility with a wide variety of fully-electric and plug-in hybrid models. You can keep track of charging as well as start or stop charging using the Mercedes me App, and the software updates over the air without you having to lift a finger!
