Do electric cars use oil? No, if you’re one of those fortunate Mercedes-Benz of St. Louis drivers who own a fully electric car, oil replacement is just one of the many things you don’t have to worry about. But, what if the car is a hybrid? Hybrids are a little different, and we’ll talk about that below. Which kind of car is the Mercedes-Benz EQS? Does the Mercedes-Benz EQS use oil? The staff in our St. Louis service center wants to help keep you informed, so let’s talk about these questions in more detail below.
Do electric cars use oil to keep running? As we said, a fully electric car runs solely on an electric motor. Since there is no combustion engine under the hood of an electric car, oil replacement, along with several other kinds of maintenance, like changing spark plugs and belts is not necessary. You will need to occasionally check the brake and transmission fluid, as well as coolant if the car is equipped with a radiator. You will also need to rotate and replace the tires, just as you would on a conventional car to ensure a reliable Clayton commute.
Will you need to replace the oil in a hybrid electric car? Oil replacement will still need to be scheduled for a hybrid car, along with all of the other typical maintenance tasks, because a hybrid has both an electric motor and a gas combustion engine. So, services like oil replacement, spark plug changes, replacing the air filter, etc., will be required to keep the car running dependably on our Ladue roads.
