August 25th, 2017 by

If you have been following the Mercedes-Benz line for a time, then surely you have heard the term AMG® a few times before. However, there are many folks who visit us at Mercedes-Benz of St. Louis asking about what this label means. As such, we thought it best to provide a little bit of insight.

AMG® is best described as a designation reserved for the brand’s top performance vehicles and their fine-tuned components. It originates back to 1967 when it was first developed by two motorsport-inspired engineers and has since transformed into a symbol of automotive excellence. So exactly how impressive is AMG®, you ask? Just take a closer look at the handcrafted AMG® 6.0L V12 biturbo engine. When equipped onto a model such as the AMG® S 65 coupe, it supplies an optimum output of 621 horsepower as well as 738 pound-feet of torque!

Simply put, the next time you see the AMG® title attached to a new Mercedes-Benz model, you know that it delivers an experience like no other.
